Reports Against Codes and Standards
Many projects must show compliance with specific acoustic codes, standards or project requirements. We assess your project against the criteria that apply and document the outcome clearly for certifiers, authorities and project teams.
Buildings and Aircraft Noise
For sites affected by aircraft noise, Councils typically require an assessment in accordance with AS 2021, particularly within the ANEF 20 contour. We certify final designs as compliant with the acoustic requirements of the Building Code of Australia and include the documentation needed for submission to the Principal Certifying Authority, then test on completion where required.
Transport and Infrastructure
New road developments typically need a 3D noise model, built with software such as SoundPlan using standard methods like the Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CORTN). For road tunnels, project deeds set strict noise goals for ventilation stations and tunnel portals.
PKA has provided acoustic design and coordination for tunnel ventilation and mechanical plant on projects including the M5 East Tunnel, the Lane Cove Tunnel, the Brisbane Airport Link and Northern Busway, and the Graham Farmer Freeway tunnel upgrade in Perth.
